Welcome to the Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt! If you’ve just discovered the hunt, be sure to start at Stop #1, and collect the clues through all the stops, in order, so you can enter to win one of our top 5 grand prize.

  • The hunt BEGINS on 4/10 at noon Mountain with Stop #1 at LisaTawnBergren.com.

  • Hunt through our loop using Chrome or Firefox as your browser (not Explorer).

  • There is NO RUSH to complete the hunt—you have all weekend (until Sunday, 4/13 at midnight Mountain)! So, take your time, reading the unique posts along the way; our hope is that you discover new authors/new books and learn new things about them.

  • Submit your entry for the grand prizes by collecting the CLUE on each author’s scavenger hunt post and submitting your answer in the Rafflecopter form at the final stop, back on Lisa’s site. Many authors are offering additional prizes along the way!

Hi! I'm Janelle Leonard

I’m an editor, author, coffee and music enthusiast, booktrovert, Jane Austen fangirl, boy mom, and the World’s Loudest Librarian. I love creating web-twisty plots and outlining, but to be honest, I really don’t like to write. I LOVE to edit! There's just something about attacking a page with a purple gel pen . . . You can learn more about me and my books here on my site and on Facebook and Instagram.

My debut novel released March 17, 2025. Northargyle Abbie is a contemporary romance with a royal twist. A modern reimagining of Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey.

ABOUT NORTHARGYLE ABBIE
When Abigail Morgan, a naive pastor’s daughter with an overactive imagination, inherits a cottage in Australia, she never imagines the story it will unlock. Armed with a museum studies degree and a penchant for daydreams, Abigail heads to Hyacinth Cottage to unravel the truth of her grandmother’s past—an unknown world of adventure, deception, and love.

TRAVEL TO AUSTRALIA

My main character, Abigail Morgan, inherits a cottage from her grandmother. Hyacinth Cottage is located in the fictional town of Bridgeway, Australia. While I have never been to Australia (someday I might gather enough courage to make the flight), I had so much fun researching and chatting with Australian native, Hannah Currie.

I learned so many things, like a kitchen counter is called a “bench” and outlets are called “Power Points.”

Without using Google, how many of these Australian phrases do you know?

How’d you do?

Here are the answers:

  1. FAIR DINKUM = true? no way!? Are you for real?

  2. GIVE A BLOKE A GO = give the guy a chance

  3. FIT AS A MALLEE BULL = strong, healthy, physically good

  4. SHE’LL BE RIGHT, MATE = it’ll all be okay, all will be well, etc.

  5. SCARCE AS A HEN’S TEETH = very rare

  6. A KNUCKLE SANDWICH = threaten to punch someone

  7. LOWER THAN A SNAKE’S BELLY = poor character, super dodgy

  8. DRONGO = silly, stupid person, a fool

  9. A STICKY BEAK = have a look, kind of like “stick your beak over the fence” kind of thing, “have a sticky beak” at the situation

  10. HALF YOUR LUCK = envy over someone else’s good luck. “I wish I had half your luck.”

  11. NOT WITHIN COOEE = Cooee is what you call when you’re in a big canyon or area and it echoes around, so not within a cooee would be not anywhere near the area, far away

  12. SPIT THE DUMMY = throw a tantrum (like a baby spitting out its pacifier)

  13. BACK OF BOURKE = middle of nowhere (Bourke is a super remote town, basically as remote as it gets)

  14. FLAT OUT LIKE A LIZARD DRINKING = super busy, “flat out!"

Here’s the Stop #22 Basics:

If you’re interested, you can order Northargyle Abbie from WhiteCrown Publishing, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or at your local bookstore.

I am happy to meet you. I signed up for your newsletter. I did know: Give a Bloke a Go; She'll Be Right, Mate, & A Knuckle Sandwich. I used to use that playing with my sister, but never knew it was an Australian saying. Purple is my favorite color! I would love the chance to win your giveaway. Thank you!
